In
November 2021, all CPI cities in North Sumatra recorded inflation,
namely Sibolga at 0.47 percent; Pematangsiantar by 0.58 percent; Medan
by 0.46 percent; Padangsidimpuan by 0.44 percent; and Gunung Sitoli by
0.71 percent. Thus, the combined 5 CPI cities in North Sumatra in
November 2021 had inflation of 0.47 percent.
In
November 2021, Medan inflation was 0.46 percent or there was an
increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 104.98 in October 2021
to 105.46 in November 2021. Inflation occurred due to price increases
from eight expenditure groups, namely the food and beverage group. , and
tobacco by 0.55 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.55 percent;
housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.33 percent;
household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.51
percent; health group by 0.07 percent; transportation group by 1.25
percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.07 percent; and
the personal care and other services group by 0.50 percent. The other
three expenditure groups did not experience changes in the index, namely
the information, communication, and financial services groups;
recreation, sports, and cultural groups; and education groups.
The
main commodities contributing to inflation during November 2021 in
Medan include red chilies, air transportation, cooking oil, house rent,
wet prawns, broiled chicken eggs, and dencis fish.
Of
the 24 CPI cities on the island of Sumatra, all cities recorded
inflation. The highest inflation was in Banda Aceh at 0.87 percent with a
CPI of 107.68 and the lowest was in Lubuklinggau at 0.29 percent with a
CPI of 106.42.
