The economy of Tebing Tinggi in 2017 compared to the previous year grew by 5.14 percent. Based on the production approach, the highest growth was achieved by the Wholesale and Retail Trade Business, Car and Motorcycle Repair of 8.40. Followed by the Field of Health Services Business and Social Activities by 7.94 percent and Field Transportation and warehousing businesses by 7.07 percent.

Based on the expenditure approach, the component of household consumption expenditure reached the highest growth of 7.12 percent, followed by the import component of 5.39 percent and the gross fixed capital formation component (PMTB) of 4.24 percent.
