In June 2018, all CPI cities in Sumatera Utara experienced inflation, namely Sibolga by 0.29 percent; Axis of 0.10 percent;
Medan by 0.01 percent; and Padangsidimpuan of 0.38 percent. Thus, North Sumatra
in June 2018 experiencing inflation of 0.04 percent.
In June 2017, the inflation field was 0.01
percent or occurred index increase from 136.46 in May 2018 to 136.47 in June
2018. Inflation occurs due to an increase in prices as indicated by the rising
index of five expenditure groups, is namely the group of finished food,
beverages, cigarettes and tobacco of 0.49 percent; housing, water, electricity,
gas and fuel groups of 0.24 percent; clothing group by 0.67 percent; group health
by 0.11 percent; and transport groups, communications and financial services by
1.70 percent. Meanwhile the group experienced a decrease in index, namely the
foodstuff group 2.04 percent. While the education, recreation and sports group did
not change index.
The main commodity contributing to
inflation during June 2018 in Medan, among others air transport, fruit
tomatoes, cayenne pepper, inter-city transportation, wages of housemaids, wet
cakes, and broiler eggs.
Of the 23 cities of CPI on Sumatra Island all cities experienced
inflation. Inflation the highest occurred in Pangkal Pinang by 1.82 percent
with CPI amounting to 140.44 and the lowest occurred in Medan and Pekanbaru
amounting to 0.01 percent with CPI of 136.47 and 134.60, respectively
